Privacy policy

1. Information we collect

We only collect what is needed to run the features you actually use.

• Account information: your name, email address, phone number, profile photo and region when you sign up or sign in with Google or Apple.
• Pet ID profiles: photos, name, breed, age, identifying marks, vaccination — neutering — deworming status, health records and the QR/NFC tag linked to the pet.
• Content you post: photos, Reels videos, captions, hashtags, comments, adoption requests, lost-pet reports and any abuse reports you send us.
• Location data: the region you set on your profile, and your device location when you allow it — to open the map around you or mark where a pet went missing.
• In-app activity: swipes, saved pets, the Reels you have watched or saved, and when you last watched them.
• Technical data: device type, app version, error logs and diagnostics.

2. How we use your information

We use your data to serve you — we do not sell it. Meta receives conversion events for PetMatch ads (page views, app-download taps); we do not use your data to target advertising for other companies.

• Running the service: creating your account, showing profiles and keeping the app stable.
• Adoption matching: suggesting suitable pets and passing your adoption request to the person who posted.
• Pet ID: building the profile page that anyone who scans a QR code or taps an NFC tag will see.
• Reels: ordering your feed, avoiding repeats of clips you have already watched, and letting you reopen your watch history.
• Maps: showing missing pets, pet shops and vet clinics around the area you are viewing.
• Community safety: handling reports, removing content that breaks the rules and preventing fraud.
• Ad measurement: Meta Pixel and Conversions API record page views, pet/Reels profile views and app-download taps so we can optimise PetMatch campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. You can block advertising cookies in your browser.

3. Reels and content you post

Reels you publish are public: every user can watch, comment, save, share and report them, together with your name, your profile photo and the pet profile attached. We record which clips you watched and when, in order to build your “Watched clips” history and to keep the feed from repeating old content. When you delete a clip it disappears from the feed immediately; copies held in system backups are erased within 30 days.

4. Location and maps

The app only reads your device location when you grant permission, and only to centre the map where you are standing or to prefill where a pet went missing — we do not track your location while the app runs in the background. A pet profile appears on the map only if you switch that option on yourself, and you can switch it off at any time. Map tiles are OpenStreetMap data served through OpenFreeMap; their servers receive the tile requests along with your device's IP address under their own policy.

5. Pet ID, QR codes and NFC tags

Every pet gets a public profile page on petmatch.vn. Anyone who scans the QR code on a tag or taps an NFC tag can see whatever you have made public — usually the pet's name, photos, health status and how to reach you if the pet is lost. So only put on the tag what you are comfortable a stranger seeing. You can unlink a tag from a pet or delete the profile at any time in the app.

6. Device permissions

Every permission below is optional, is only requested when you use the matching feature, and can be revoked in your phone's settings.

• Camera and microphone: recording Reels, taking pet profile photos and scanning QR codes.
• Photo library: picking photos and videos to post, and saving QR codes to your device.
• Location: opening the map around you and marking where a pet went missing.
• NFC: reading and writing the ID tags linked to a pet profile.
• Bluetooth: connecting to a thermal printer to print labels and QR tags.
• Notifications: alerting you to messages, adoption requests and updates about your pets.

7. Sharing information

We do not sell your personal information. Data is only shared with the infrastructure providers that keep the service running (data and file storage, sign-in authentication, push notifications, map tiles), with other users for the content you deliberately post in public, with Meta to measure PetMatch Facebook/Instagram ad conversions, and with the authorities where the law requires it.

8. Storage and security

Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored on servers with access controls. We apply reasonable technical measures to limit unauthorised access and keep information only for as long as the purposes above require.

9. Your rights

You can view, edit or delete your own profile, your pet profiles and your Reels right in the app; turn off map visibility; revoke device permissions; or request deletion of your whole account. Requests about personal data are handled within 30 days.

10. Children's privacy

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If we find we have, we delete that data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as we add new features. Any change is posted on this page with a new update date; significant changes are also announced inside the app.
